Created in 1995, Better Built Homes has more than two decades of quality homebuilding experience in Central Florida. We have designed and built hundreds of quality homes and townhomes throughout communities in Orange, Osceola, Lake, Polk and Flagler counties.

Better Built Homes – part of the Marsan Real Estate Group – was founded in Montreal, Canada in 1982. Expanding into Florida, Better Built Homes has established its reputation on building comfortable and affordable quality homes with you in mind. From luxurious, low-maintenance townhomes to spacious “room for everyone” family homes, we have just the right plan and neighborhood for you to enjoy.

Jean Marsan has over 40 years of building quality homes across North America. His enthusiasm for developing land, communities and neighborhoods is an obsession he developed early in his career. He studies trends, innovates and creates communities of lasting value with pride. Homes with quality built in that come with standard features most builders charge extra for – no matter what the size and price. For him, building your next home is something personal.

Ben Shoemaker


Mr. Ben Shoemaker is the President of Better Built Homes Florida, responsible for managing the current operations of the homebuilding, builder services, and land acquisition and development in the United States, as well as implementing the strategic growth plans for those businesses. Mr. Shoemaker has bring over 35 years of management experience related to all aspects of residential building and land acquisition and development. Mr. Shoemaker began his career in real estate development with Royal Palm Homes, a privately held single-family and multifamily development company. During his time with Royal Palm, Mr. Shoemaker oversaw the development of more than 3,000 single and multi-family lots, and managed the construction, marketing, and sales of over 1500 units. Mr. Shoemaker also has extensive experience working in various capacities for several of the largest publicly traded homebuilders. These roles include the Vice President of Land Acquisition of KBHome in Central Florida where he was responsible for acquiring and developing over 1400 lot in 15 new communities over a two year period. He also served as Land Manager for the Central Florida Division of DR Horton and overseeing a land budget of more than $400 million. Most recently, Mr. Shoemaker served as Division President of the Orlando Division of Richmond American Homes, and MDC Holdings company. In this role, he had full responsibility for the rebuilding and growing the Division In addition to his real estate experience, Mr. Shoemaker received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting from the University of Florida, and worked for 2 years as a CPA in the tax department of the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen. Mr. Shoemaker also obtained his law degree from the University of Florida, and was in practiced law while working with the firms of Gray Harris and Burr & Forman in Orlando.

FRANK P. ENGEL - CFO and Vice-President

Frank is well-respected in Florida, where he has been established since 1998. A high caliber financier, he worked many years for the US Department of Defense. At the beginning of the year 2000, he left his employment to start his own financial business and began, at the same time, a career in real estate by the acquisition and resale of land in the Washington D.C. area. In 2014 he joined forces with Jean Marsan by becoming a partner of the Marsan Real Estate Group. Since then, Frank Engel is an integral part of all major decisions made within the company with a view to furthering the Group’s development.

ANNA BILLINGSLEY - SVP Finance/Operations

Anna is a top-level strategist in charge of the financial management of the company and real estate development. Born in Montreal, Anna has developed over the course of her many mandates, a unique expertise for managing several projects simultaneously, in a fluctuating market. Anna’s experience includes more than 35 years working for various banks in Canada and the United States.

STEPHANIE MARSAN - VP Communications

Stephanie has acquired in-depth business development expertise, in particular as a client account manager. Armed with a degree in Communication and more than four years of experience in various companies, she has acquired a solid reputation in talent acquisition, drawing on her professionalism and discipline to form high-caliber teams. Her work with the recruitment team has furthered the growth and development of the Marsan Real Estate Group. Stephanie is a reliable, multitalented partner with exceptional communication and organizational skills paired with great integrity.

LIN JOY JESSE - International Sales Representative

Established in sunny Florida for three decades now, Lin Joy Jesse boasts nearly 20 years of experience selling new residential constructions, luxury homes and commercial establishments. She has been in charge of international sales for Marsan Real Estate Group for 15 years. Her specialty is helping international buyers by making the entire acquisition process a positive and pleasant experience. Her warm and friendly attitude makes a lasting impression on clients, who can count on her presence at every phase of the purchase. Lin is enthusiastic about her profession, and offers clients top-notch personalized service.

CAROLINE MARSAN - Senior Sales and Marketing Representative

Caroline graduated from the University of Central Florida’s molecular and cellular biology program in 2012. She was initially attracted to a scientific career, and then moved on to specialize in recruitment. Established in Dallas, Texas, Caroline sold computer equipment and managed major accounts for public sector clients such as hospitals, schools and government bodies.
Her sales and marketing expertise had her developing the Asian market, which brought her considerable international experience. In collaboration with Lin Joy Jess, Caroline will assist buyers with their real estate acquisitions. Her talents as a communicator and her creativity make her a reliable business partner and a valuable collaborator.
